Workshops, Studios & Spaces
The Motor House is a multidisciplinary creative space that functions as studio, workshop, and a live-work space.
Set in the peaceful rural setting of East Rounton in North Yorkshire, it provides the tools and space for experimentation at various scales, from furniture to large-scale sculptural production.
At the heart of The Motor House are its studio and workshops, designed to support both traditional and contemporary fabrication techniques.
The main large, bright studio has communal work tables, large wall space and large-scale access through doors to both the front and rear, allowing for the transport of large-scale items. It is a flexible space, ideal for art and design work, or for movement-based practices such pilates or yoga.
There are two additional workshops equipped with wood and metal-working tools.
Beyond the interior spaces, The Motor House offers access to a large paddock, ideal for outdoor sculpting or large-format work, complete with a heavy-duty winch to support ambitious installations.
The space is designed to encourage material exploration, hands-on making, and cross-disciplinary collaboration — whether you're working in wood, metal, movement, or land-based practices.
Overview of processes and equipment:
Comprehensive wood-working equipment, including circular saws, table saw, routers, sanding machines, hand tools, finishing products, and much more.
