Motor House Arts Spaces
Motor House Arts is a working creative campus in North Yorkshire, offering studio space, specialist workshops, and a collaborative environment for artists, makers, designers, and thinkers, and at every stage of their practice and professional development.
Our main studio is large, light-filled, and genuinely flexible, with communal work tables, generous wall space, and wide-access doors to both front and rear to accommodate work at scale. Two additional dedicated workshops provide comprehensive wood and metalworking facilities, including arc and TIG welding, oxy-acetylene cutting, a full range of power machinery, and hand tools. An extensive outdoor paddock space extends the scope further, supporting installations and land-based work.
Motor House Arts is equally committed to ideas as to making. We are developing a programme of debates, forums, and public conversations, in partnership with regional, national, and international organisations, bringing together artists, makers, educators, and policy-makers, around the questions that matter most within contemporary culture.
“Making art and designing objects encourages curiosity and helps people connect to the physical world. Drawing is a wonderful skill. It encourages you to look, to see, to judge elegant proportions. Without it, you stop developing your own opinions. If everything is predigested, you just consume.”
Jonny Ive, The Observer, 2025
